Where to find out what’s happening here on the site? (Spoiler alert: It’s here on the site!) And a thought or two about commenting…

After all the nonsense over on Facebook – people who thought they were following me weren’t, and weren’t seeing my posts – and Instagram, the short answer about where you can find information about what’s going on here on the site is to come here to the site as I announce all the Zoom workshops and such here, in the “blog” part of the site.

I also share information in the “Welcome to the month” posts, which I’ve started writing again. In March’s post, I suggested a date range and potential topics for the Zoom workshop.

Fun fact: I offered a discount coupon in one of the monthly posts that 6 people have claimed. There’s interesting stuff in them there posts!

If you want to follow me on social media, I’m SwiftCraftyMonkey on Facebook and Instagram.

I have a YouTube account under the same name. (I’ve just made public a bunch of videos, including a live tutorial for making conditioners.)

I’m on BlueSky, but that’s a Sasja photo sharing account.

You’re unlikely to see my posts on Meta as they only show them to about 700 people before they want loads of money from me, so again, the best place to get information is from this site.

We don’t have a mailing list or newsletter any more for a number of reasons, but the main one is that is that they can see if you’ve read, deleted, or clicked on them, which is creepy and intrusive.

A note to follow up on the cancellation of this month’s Zoom meeting

You don’t have to interact with me, make comments, or do anything else as a subscriber, but there are good reasons to do so.

I chose the topic of shampoo bars because one person out of three people who responded suggested it.

I’ve created customized formulas for people because they asked and it looked interesting.

I’ve bought ingredients to try because someone said it was excellent or fun or cool.

I get inspired by your comments and questions, and without feedback, it’s impossible to know what you’re thinking.

And I know if I should spend hours preparing for a Zoom workshop because people are thinking of coming. (It’s 10 extra hours of work at least to offer this, on top of the rest of my workload and studies.)

On top of all of that, it’s nice to know I’m writing for real people instead of just screaming into the abyss. I know you’re out there as I know how many subscribers we have, but to get a little “yay” or “that looks nice” as a comment brings me great joy. It also starts fun conversations we can all participate in and enjoy. There are so many cool people to talk to around here!

As an aside, I would encourage you to interact with social media you’re enjoying more often. Offering a 💚 or 🤘🏻 or 👋 goes a surprisingly long way, and it encourages creators to do more of the stuff you enjoy.

It’s super easy to get burned out doing this kind of creative work when there’s very little feedback, so a friendly “hello” can make a huge difference. I’ve managed to do this for more than 16 years now because I have regular commenters who share their thoughts and inspire me.

If you’re feeling called out after reading this post, please don’t. You can interact with whomever you wish however you wish.

Okay, let’s get back to our regularly scheduled programming!
